Our Maestros
Our Shipibo Maestros & founders are Maestro Deodemero Matios Maynas and Maestra Rosenda Melendez Flores. They both come from a long line of healers in their family and have been working with Ayahuasca for over 20 years. With experience working in a variety of different well-renowned centers in Iquitos and Pucallpa, they are now working for themselves, together as a family. Whilst both these Maestros listed here founded the centre, we are in the beginning of our sacred journey, running small and intimate retreats in our centre. The number of retreat participants attending each retreat will determine if the medicine is served by one or both of these two powerful Maestros connected to the fertile soil of Jochipapanete. For those of you who join us at the start of our journey you may well be blessed with a personal retreat package simply by choosing to come early, which is a very personal gift only open at this stage of our journey.

Deodomero Matios Maynas
SHIPIBO HEALERMaestro Deodomero was 15 years old when his uncle returned to their village after a long dieta. Maestro Deodomero remembers his relatives referring to his uncle as a Meraya (the highest degree of spiritual development in Shipibo shamanism), and telling stories about their healing ceremonies with him. Maestro Deodomero’s heart was touched so much by listening to stories of his uncle and watching his ceremonies that he began his first dieta that same year at the age of 15 under the guidance of his Father (who was also a Shipibo shaman). Maestro Deodomero has dedicated his life to being a healer ever since, teaching many students of his own and continually dieting many plants to expand on the wisdom given to him by his ancestors. With over 35 years’ experience working with Ayahuasca, it is a privilege to go into ceremony with Maestro Deodomero and receive his heart felt icaro.
Rosenda Melendez Flores
SHIPIBO HEALERMaestra Rosenda was born and raised in the Shipibo village of Santa Isabel de Bahuanisho, Ucayali and comes from a long line of healers in her family. After participating in ceremonies under the guidance of family members in her twenties Maestra Rosenda felt called at the age of 30 to begin her dieta journey into shamanism and become a healer herself. Maestra Rosenda apprenticed under her brother in law Maestro Deodomero and after becoming a healer has worked in multiple well-renowned Ayahuasca centers in Iquitos and Pucallpa. Maestra Rosenda is passionate about her ancestral roots in healing, and continues to diet many plants each year to expand her knowledge and healing abilities. With over 20 years’ experience working with the ancestral medicine Ayahuasca, Maestra Rosenda brings a beautiful feminine energy to ceremony, which permeates participants through her magical medicine songs.
